Harry Reese founded Turkey Press in 1974 when he was a graduate student at Brown University. A year later, he returned to Berkeley, California, and in 1977, with Sandra Liddell Reese as his partner, moved to Isla Vista, north of Santa Barbara. Turkey Press books, primarily contemporary poetry in a variety of formats and edition sizes, feature traditional letterpress printing as well as digital imaging techniques. Harry and Sandra design, print, bind and frequently make paper for their books. In 1990, they established a second imprint, Edition Reese, to produce artist books in collaboration with other artists, writers and thinkers. Edition Reese books incorporate experimental texts and original art, such as monotypes, painting, drawing, and collage. In addition to his painting and public art projects, Harry Reese teaches book art, print, papermaking, and media ecology classes at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
