This is the first publication of the journal Merton kept while visiting Alaska before making his trip to Asia where he died in an electrical accident in 1968. A limited edition book was suggested by David D. Cooper, a Merton scholar doing research at the Merton Study Center in Bellarmine, Kentucky. The type is Spectrum printed on Barcham Green Hayle Mill handmade paper. An aerial photograph taken by Merton in Alaska in 1968 was reproduced for the slipcase from a photoengraving. Edition of 140 copies bound in black and white linen over boards. 6.75 x 10.25 inches.
